Sharing information pertaining to your personal injury case on Facebook seems like a great way to let family and friends know how you’re doing after an accident has occurred, right?
Wrong!
It’s easier than you may think to share information that could damage your personal injury case or provide contrary evidence.
Here’s an example: You’ve been in a serious accident and are seeking compensation for your injuries. Meanwhile, you post pictures on social media of your injuries and state that your recovery has been going well. You’ve even managed to go on your family vacation as planned.
What’s the problem? Insurance companies, like so many others, have access to social media, and seemingly innocent posts could provide them with evidence to show that compensation isn’t necessary in your personal injury case. The vacation photos and status updates could offer such evidence.
To be safe, it’s advised to avoid social media completely when it concerns your personal injury case. Encourage family members that may be knowledgeable of your case to do the same.
