A Florida motorcyclist, Loinier Perez, was killed in January when a Lyft driver made an improper left turn while providing a ride to two passengers.
Perez’s widow, Poliana Perez, is filing a wrongful death lawsuit against the company and is seeking both economic and non-economic damages.
What is Wrongful Death?
When someone is killed due to another’s negligence, the victim’s family can pursue a wrongful death lawsuit. Drivers working under the supervision of a company are not excluded from these suits. In fact, the company itself can also be listed as a responsible party in the lawsuit.
Mrs. Perez and her attorneys believe that Lyft should have been aware of the driver’s low safety standards before allowing him to drive for the company.
