On March 4, 2015, Tyler Keller and his dog Addie were driving through Douglas Pass on Highway 139 in Grand Junction, Colorado when they were involved in a car accident. Keller’s vehicle hit a guardrail and slid down an embankment after his vehicle lost control. Both Keller and his dog were ejected from the vehicle during the accident. Sadly, when Keller was transported to the hospital (with serious injuries) his beloved four-legged friend was left behind.
Keller was visiting Colorado from Michigan when the accident occurred.
However, during the course of his recovery, Keller received the greatest gift of all: a man (who wishes to remain anonymous) found Addie and returned her to the teen. The man discovered Addie huddled against a guardrail at the scene of crash.
Keller’s mother commented that her son had been asking for Addie since the accident happened.
“He was so excited to see Addie he had been asking for her even while he’s trying to get better those first couple of days he was concerned she was missing,” she said.
Fortunately, after Addie’s return, the boy’s spirits brightened.
Colorado authorities reported that the wet road conditions may have contributed to the accident. Read this article to learn more about 4 bad road conditions that can lead to car accidents.
