After a rental truck accident, it can be difficult to discern which party or parties are responsible for paying the damages. (They certainly won’t volunteer responsibility!) Many insurance policies don’t cover rental truck accidents, and you could find yourself footing the bill.
Here are a few parties that can be held responsible after a rental truck accident.
1. The Truck’s Driver
If you’ve chosen to drive a rental truck yourself, and cause an accident, you will be held responsible for paying. Unfortunately, some insurance policies don’t cover rental trucks. Many rental companies offer optional insurance for a fee, but not taking advantage could leave you high and dry.
2. The Rental Company
If your truck was not successfully inspected and a faulty part caused your accident, the rental company could be held responsible for at least part of the expenses.
3. The Part Manufacturer
If your rental truck accident is caused by a malfunctioning part, the part’s manufacturer could be held liable for any damages suffered.
